Exclusion & Damage Repair

After the trapping phase is finished, we will begin damage repair and exclusion procedures.  Animal exclusion involves sealing or reinforcing the areas prone to nuisance animal attacks. In short, it stops them from finding a way inside. Many homes suffer physical damage to the structure because of critters like rats, squirrels, raccoons and opossums.  Not only do the animals find and exploit storm damage, but they also may find improperly installed soffits or eaves.  They will often chew through soffit vents, ridge vents, dryer vents and roof vents. Many homes allow easy entry through vinyl, metal, stucco or wood siding that is worn, damaged or improperly installed. Unscreened gutters & downspouts provide easy access to roof lines.

Proper exclusion techniques by someone with a working knowledge of construction and an understanding of how and where an animal prefers to enter a home is what you need to stop these animals in their tracks.  It is important to deal with this issue properly so that other animals do not move in, taking the place of the animals you just got rid of.  Remember, if one creature thought it was a perfect home, you need to change something so that the next one doesn’t see the same thing.

Any gap or entry point must be properly sealed to keep invading rats, squirrels, raccoons and other animals out of your home.  In addition foundation vents may need to be replaced; while dryer vents, attic vents and other roof penetrations must be screened.  Duct work may need repair, gutters may need to be replaced, debris should be removed and tree limbs may need to be trimmed away from the house.
